Marmora Protestant Cemetery
Historically speaking the Municipality of Marmora and Lake has been in the cemetery business for only three years but the Marmora Protestant Cemetery has been in existence since 1823.
In 2006, the Marmora Protestant Cemetery Board disbanded, handing over the Cemetery and all their records to the Municipality. A great number of the original records have been lost over the years. However, a good number still exist. The newly formed Cemetery Board has checked and crosschecked the old records and a new map of the entire cemetery has just been completed.
The Cemetery Board offers a service to those that can't make the trip back to Marmora. We will help trace your ancestors, take photos of any tombstone and now we offer the service of charcoal rubbings, a small fee will be charged for photo's and charcoal rubbings. Also this spring we will conduct a tour, complete with costumed guides, visiting the final resting places of some of Marmora's famous as well as infamous residents.
You can reach the Cemetery Board with any questions or requests by contacting the Municipal office at 613-472-2629, we would be pleased to hear from you.
