The parking lot at 19 Matthew Street just become a little greener thanks to the Marmora and Lake Environmental Advisory Committee.

Recently the committee launched “Let’s Grow, Marmora!” to encourage residents to grow their own food and beautify the community. With assistance from municipal staff, the committee has placed six raised gardens in the public parking lot along Highway 7 at the corner of Bursthall and Matthew Street that residents can use to plant and grow vegetables.

Currently four of the six planters are spoken for, but two 10-foot by four-foot plots are still available for use. The cost to residents for the season is $10 and this includes soil and the use of water barrels on site. Residents provide their own vegetable plants.

For more information contact Councillor Mike Stevens at m.stevens@marmoraandlake.ca.
